Fredrik Sixten Commission
James D. Hicks has recently commissioned Swedish composer and church musician, Fredrik Sixten to compose an original composition for pipe organ. It is to be featured on an upcoming 2009 compact disc recording, produced by the Pro Organo label. The work is a set of Theme and Variations upon an original them, composed in a national, Swedish style. Fredrik Sixten is Director of Music at Harnosands Cathedral. His recently composed Requiem for chorus and orchestra has garnered international acclaim. For more information about Fredrik Sixten visit his website.

Scandinavian Recording Project
James D. Hicks will record a 2-CD set of organ works from Scandinavian countries during the last two weeks of September. Recorded at Linkoping Cathedral in Sweden, the project will include two and one-half hours of works, spanning the nineteenth and twentieth centuries plus the above-mentioned contemporary compositions. Composers from Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Iceland and Finland will be represented.
